WHat are the reasons you would use an RSS Feed for an ecommerce site?

Is it relevant for a retailer to create an RSS feed of their products and has anyone seen results?

Let's say you have a blog on your site that gets two or three posts per week.  These would not be "marketing" messages, they would simply be information on how products are used, how to have fun, things that people want to read.  With that you can include a product information post or two per week that will let subscribers know about your product.

Be careful with this. You want to treat subscribers well.  They don't want a bunch of sales hype or chest-thumping market speak.

You could also potentially offer RSS feeds for many different categories of products: newest products, top sellers, screaming deals, get-it-while-it-lasts, etc.

Since RSS feeds are useful for deep indexing on an eCommerce site, they are valuable for both consumers and bots alike.
