Conversion Tracking Emails?
-
Hi,
I have a landing page where audience reads the info then clicks a link that takes them to the email form. Is it possible to track the conversions for people who send an email in?
My client pays per enquiry so the conversion tracking would be useful to see where and when the sign ups are coming from.
Thanks

Yes it is, you could set up some goals in Google analytics- https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1032415?hl=en-GB
or if users are getting to you via an email you can set up a pixel - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_bug
Hope that helps a bit

Use goal tracking in Google analytics. Set up a destination URL for after your form gets filled out, then track that URL in the goals in analytics.
Also, if you want to track phone calls along with emails, use tossible digits phone service. They have tracking set up to where you can count and listen to the leads when a customer calls your client.

You can track conversions in Google Analytics as others have mentioned here. But if you want to track the source of any particular individual email, then Google Analytics alone is not ideal. Here are some options -
1. Capture visitor data using the GA cookie and pass it along with each form submission. This is against GA's TOS so do it at your own risk but here is a blog post telling you how to do it - http://cutroni.com/blog/2009/03/18/updated-integrating-google-analytics-with-a-crm/. (The author of this blog post actually works for Google Analytics so it's kinda funny he tells you how to break their TOS...)
2. Use a contact form that automatically tracks conversions for leads, such as Convertable - (full disclosure - I'm a co-founder of Convertable but it solves the issue you are having). You can also try other similar paid services like HubSpot, Salesforce, BestContactForm.com, etc.
