Some of my important keywords are not in English. Is blogging in another language rather than English helps ranking those keywords? Does Google crawl other languages just like English?

Yes, google crawls and understands almost every language, so you shouldn't have any problem.

Make sure you add the appropriate  (changing "es" for whatever language you will use).

First of all, yes, Google crawls and understands other languages than English... it would not be the leader Search Engine worldwide if it was not able to do that.

Secondly: are these words used in an English site? For instance, are yours words like "tapas", "tacos", "burritos", let's say not-english words but very common in English too? If so the suggestion given by Federico here above is not valid, because you can't put - for instance - Spanish as the main language of the site, as the main language is English.

In cases like the ones I used as an example, you don't have to create content in Spanish just because the words you target are Spanish. Do SEO normally and create linkable/shareable content in your main language (English from what I understand), being sure your targeted words are present (Title Tag, H1, Content, Internal Linking in case of on page SEO, and anchor text, better if different variation and - also - in branded versions (i.e.: try tacos [name of the brand])

            Hi Gianluca,

My website is bilingual(English and Persian). My keywords in Farsi are totally different looking alphabetic wise. For example in English it is "Book" and in Farsi it is "کتاب". So I think like what Fredrico said I need to start a whole new campaign and setting for my Persian pages totally separate from English version of the website.

Kindly let me know what you think.

            Regards

Well, your case is quite different then, being farsi not a latin-based alphabet.

Yes, probably in your case the best should be creating two different sites, optimizing them for their respective languages.

I suggest you to use an Iran country code, if you target Iran. Or, if you target Iran but having problems obtaining an .ir domain, use a generic one and target Iran in Google Webmaster Tool (obviously if you target Iran and not Farsi globally).

Maybe you can take into consideration the use of IDN domain name .iran. More information here, even though - I must advice you - those kind of domain can be problematic when it comes to things like Google Analytics.

Actually I am not targeting Iran. My main market is the US and Canada but here are people who like to use a Farsi portal. So what I am planning to do is to have my English website(Primary one) like abc.com/lang:eng and then add a sub-directory for Farsi like abc.com/lang:far for the times users choose to switch the language to Farsi. Then I can use specific Farsi meta titles and description for my Farsi version of the website which obviously would be totally different than my English version. It is in a way the same way as the reference website you mentioned is doing.
