What is the best way to see if a linking site is indexed in a search engine?

I was wondering does any one know the best way to see if a linking site is indexed in a search engine?

Type it into the search engine is always a good method (the whole domain e.g http:www.thesite.com)

Chris is correct, additionally doing this will allow you to see all the pages that are indexed from that site.

I use this

type into google site:www.example.com

If it shows the site it must be indexed

Splenta is right

Searching on Google for site:example.com will show you whether or not any pages for that site are indexed.

You can also try "site:moz.com seo" this will narrow your results to show any indexed pages on MOZ that contain 'seo' in the page.

Extremely helpful if you are trying to find an exact page or set of pages.
