Change language on authoritative domain

Hi Moz Community,
I am quite new to the community and first I'd like to thank you for the great quality content I found here in the hundreds of threads that i browsed recently, thanks for sharing your experience !
Context
We are a high quality small boat builder based in France and shipping worldwide, selling direct to consumer through our website.
we have a domain : reversoproject.com written in french
That domain has a** DA of 30**, almost 6 years age and very serious backlinks from major (french) news sites
However, we never worked our SEO and we only rank for our product name or brand name1 year ago, I launched **sailreverso.com ** : a different domain but same content, written in english
But I realized that we would struggle in getting close to our reversoproject.com DAAlso, we plan on both french and english content a total restructuration of nav, UX, architecture and onsite SEO
️ I am considering hosting back both english and french site on reversoproject.com for domain authority purpose** ****
️ I am considering switching languages : reversoproject.com would be the global site, in english and reversoproject.com/fr would be the french site **
can we expect to keep our DA ( regarding domain age and strong backlinks)
Do you see other options that we might consider ?Many thanks in advance for your insights !
greetings from France
Antoine

Hi Antoine,
The best way to do this is to create two versions of the website. One version would look like you said reversoproject.com/fr and it would target France and another version reversoproject.com for the English users. Since everything would stay in the same domain, your overall link profile will help you to rank higher in France. In other words, Google will treat your reversoproject.com/fr like DA 30 domain.
