Sounds really shady to me. Search engine traffic comes from a search engine, like Google. Google don't give you any options to sell your search engine traffic to someone else, so this immediately makes me think it's bad practice

It is possible to buy Search Engine Traffic by some "SEO" companies.  Some claim that will leave good signals to a search engine if people search your site with any keyword, click on your domain and stay a while.  Some others just sell bot traffic. Both is not helpful!

If you like to burn money, you can do it.  So really: dont try it, dont waste your money.

Use those funds to create compelling & valuable content (blog articles, videos & etc.). Also, if you need to buy relevant traffic, setup and optimized ppc.  Gym Equipment is heavily competitive, so I would focus on mid & long-tail terms and track to see what converts.  Good luck!

Or, you can create content that "WINS" traffic... and instead of you paying you will be earning.

And, that content will earn traffic every day, every day, every day.  The cost of content that earns traffic is cheaper in the long run than paying for traffic.
