        Hi Catherine

The best language to build your site in is the language of the target audience. So if you are targetting the UK then you write it in UK-English. If you are targetting Spain then you write in Spanish.

Don't forget to choose the right country target in Search console and add the appropriate hreflang tags if you have more than one language/country target version.

        Regards Nigel

            Aha!

It doesn't really matter as long as it's light and clean.

HTML is the simplest but Wordpress and many other platforms use php. It's what Google sees on the page which is most important so don't use so much Java as Google still can't read it. Combine that with good site speed and you are on to a winner.

            Regards Nigel

I agree with Nigel here, in the end it shouldn't matter what your site is built in. As long as your site has great user experience and is fast (which goes hand in hand) then the technology platform behind it shouldn't make a difference. In some cases it can help boost the experience but very few sites are able to do that.
