I have had a version of my site for over 10 years. Only in the last few years have I really focused on using it to drive orders. Overall for my local area I do OK. I use to do very well until my web host accidentally deleted my site. I have been rebuilding from scratch now and it is going good.

My question is about authority. I just started working with Moz and I see that I have no authority, no links, and I am at a loss. I recently got an online magazine in my industry to publish an article I wrote, but other than that I am not sure how to improve authority and links.

      Any advice would be great.

Hi James, I tried very hard. It was with Bluehost and I had upgraded to a Private Server and somehow they say during that move everything was lost somehow. I was floored! That was about 12 months ago actually. I have never heard of something like that before. No backup or anything. Just doesn't make sense to me.

          Thank you for the direction!
I will look into what you suggest and hunt for older backlinks.

          I'll respond with results.

I Agree with James,  for the 404 pages you could also configure Google Search Console to find them (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6001104?hl=en.)

Thank you, I am figuring out how to do that now.

yeah, I got spoiled making changes directly on the webhost and stopped making local backups. I learned a valuable lesson at least.

The other thing I gained out of it, is I was previously developing on a platform that was slightly outdated (livesite camelback) and decided to switch to wordpress for the rebuild. I am so glad I made that complete change as now I realize how powerful wordpress is over other platforms.

No luck yet but I have two people looking online to see what can be found.

                      Ok so... Wow

                      found the program "wayback machine"

it keeps track of history of a domain. How cool to see your site over a decade or more.

so for those who mentioned to do this, I don't understand how to possibly leverage back any authority.

is there something I can do now that I see lots of the pages still exist?

thanks again, just spent an hour down memory lane!

Ok I understand now. Kind of slow I guess sometimes so thanks for spelling it out for me.

                          i appreciate the direction again.
