G+personal or domain account?
-
I've looked through the forum and I understand that it now considered better to use a personal G+ account rather than a domain based one. I can change this as I haven't actively used by elizconley@homeforbusiness.co.uk yet but want to start doing this.
I understand that it is better to set up a personal G+ account and a business page. However I have a couple of questions:
1. which account do I direct the rel=author markup to, my personal G+ account or the business page. At the moment I write many of the posts on HomeforBusiness.
2. When I post from the HomeforBusiness site do I post to the business page or my personal page? Which is considered better for building connections and improved ranking?
Thanks,
Elizabeth

For point 1 - you should use your personal G+ account if for rel=author. You will not get the benefits of rel=author, such as the rich snippets in SERPs, if you use your company G+ page. Google has been quite insistent in saying that rel=author should be for people, so link it to you personal page.
As for point 2 - One would argue that whichever account of yours has the most followers/engagement levels, that would be the best channel to use. I'd probably experiment with using both, with an inkling towards using the business page. A theory being thrown around is that if your business page has a decent following count and engagement and you link it to your website via the rel=publisher schema tag, Google may associated the strong social profile with the website, take it as a social signal and then reward your website. Of course, to get a stronger business page, you would start by sharing the content actively on the business page as a preference. Hey, you could always do both (post on one, share on the other), provided it's not overkill.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Tom. This helps. All I need to do now is to clarify for myself what to post on the personal and business account as both will need followers etc.
