Should we remove external links in navigation?

My suggestion would be to make that Service Area drop down into a link to a page listing the service areas (and adding some content to the page, of course, so it isn't seen as a thin page or even a link farm of sorts).
This way you avoid the issue of external links in the navigation.

It really is worth doing something about that. If you have a menu, people expect to be staying on the same site.
As SEOhanna said, a single page that covers all of the locations and clearly shows external links would be a big help and would help with this spam score.

Thanks for the information. I removed the three external links from the main navigation. I'm still getting the same flag when I run the site through OSE though. I know the description for that flag includes links in the footer. We have some social icons, a security seal and a link out to our BBB profile. I'm not sure what else might be triggering this flag.

Hi guys. I'm still seeking some insight. I've removed the external links from the primary navigation but I'm still showing this flag. Any further thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Do you mean the spam flag? If so, then it's worth remembering that MOZ doesn't update as often as Google so the next time it gets round to crawling, it should update.
