Does the Difficulty score in Keyword Explorer take into account my site's domain authority relative to the competition?

Hey John,

I think you bring up a pretty good point. Quite honestly I don't know the answer to that for sure, but I don't think it does incorporate your score. I think it uses the average of the top ranking sites to come up with an overall number that applies to everyone industry wide. That way it is one set standard.

I do agree that it would be cool to see the a second metric like "Your Difficulty vs. Average". It would be an awesome way to benchmark campaigns and even adding a calculator or testing functionality that would allow you to set goals would be cool as well.

I don't think that it considers the attributes of individual sites.  The same difficulty is shown to everyone.

Hi there! Difficulty score is solely based on the DA and PA for the top ranking sites for a particular keyword. The only occasion we would take your site's Domain Authority or Page Authority into account is if you yourself were ranking in one of those top spots. So, the Difficulty score would be the same for everyone who searched at that particular time.
