Two links to different page with same link label
-
What will be the impact in Google if I have two links in the same page pointing to different pages, but with the same label.

I'm assuming by link label you are referring to anchor text? My first question is if both pages your linking to are both equally relevant to the anchor text your using? For isntance, if your using the anchor text "red dresses" do both pages your linking to offer "red dresses"?
Second question, assuming the answer to question one is "yes". Why do you have two extremely similar pages on your site? Is there an opportunity for you to combine both pages so that you can have one super relevant and authoritative page? Or maybe there is a distinguisher between both pages, for instance, plus size vs core red dresses. If the latter is true, consider editing your anchor text to read "plus size red dresses" for the core page and then just "red dresses" for the core page.
Best practice suggests you would want to avoid sending similar ranking singals to two pages (especially if their duplicate or near duplicate). Either look to combine the two pages or consider more descriptive anchor text for each link on the page.
Hope this helps!

Probably not much impact at all if it's just one instance, might vaguely improve internal linking if it's more extensively used, but really I question the logic from the UX side... as a user, my expectation is that two links labeled the same will go to the same place.

Hello Nick
Thank you for your reply. Yes with link label I mean anchor text.
The example I referred to has one page for B2C and one for B2B. So there is completely different pages with different content. Both have links in the menu displayed on all the pages on the site. They appear as a anchor text in sub menus under different anchor text in the main menu. Like this:
Privat (anchor text in main menu)- Elsjekk (anchor text in sub menu)
Business (anchor text in main menu) - Elsjekk (anchor text in sub menu)
I assume that it is logic for the users that the link under Privat is for the B2C customers, and the link under Business is for B2B customers. But I was more thinking what impact this has for the ranking position in Google.
I am good with Rebeccas answer if you agree it has limited impact in Google.
Thank you for your support.
