How Do You Do Link Building??
-
I am starting to use the Moz pro tools like optimizing on page SEO for keywords and looking for opportunities.
I know link building is a huge part for getting rankings on keywords in google search.
Where do I start and how do I do the link building process for specific keywords I can rank for??
Thank you in advance for your help.

You're right, link building is important and it's still an important part of Googles' search engine algorithm. What I would do first is go to Moz's Chapter 7: What is Link Building? to make sure you're familiar with the overall strategies and see some examples.
What we generally recommend is starting with looking at your particular niche and the keywords you'd like to rank for. Make a list of your top competitors and start looking at what links they have (you can use Open Site Explorer to find your competitor's links). See what types of links they have and see if you can get similar links (or get linked on the same sites). Focus on getting quality links to your site, not just "easy links".

How do you go about getting the links?

It really depends on the website. If the website is something that you think the site owner can edit, like they're listing certain websites in a list, then you can contact them and ask them to include your website. If it's an article or news article, then you'd generally contact the person who wrote the article to see if they'd be interested in writing about your website. If it's an industry website listing companies like a directory, then they might ask you to fill out a form or advertise.
Each link and each particular situation is different, so you have to be innovative in how you get the links.
If you have a local brick and mortar location, then you'll want to work on getting local citations for your business.
