Google Places - Cached Citations
-
Looking to update my business address where possible because I have moved offices.
I know that Google uses citations from multiple parties to impact on the Google Places results.
Trouble is when address details are updated on hese third party sites I notice that Google doesn't often recache the page and get the new address.
What method(s) can I use to resolve this issue?

You're basically at the mercy of Google to update. There's no real way to fetch the citation sources via Google Maps (at least not that I know of), so the best thing you can do is update the citations and make sure the upstream data providers get updated asap. Citation cleanup will always be a battle because you'll never have all the information updated at any given time. You need to look to not only typical local directories, but newspapers, government files, etc. All that information is collected by Google to determine location accuracy, so you'll basically be in a revolving battle to keep the information updated.
I will say to make sure you prioritize the biggest sites that could drive you traffic/business. Don't spend too much time on tasks that provide little value to your bottom line. If you really feel like you need to get EVERYTHING updated, then I'd recommend finding an outsource partner to take on the tedious low revenue tasks.

Hiya!
Oof, that's a toughie, indeed. To my knowledge, there is nothing you can do to get Google to increase the speed with which they re-visit a third party site. Good news is, you are in the same boat as everyone on this, and as Eric mentions, it's likely best to simply turn your attention elsewhere while you wait. How about scoring a few really awesome new citations for the business? Maybe a feature in a local newspaper or blog? Something robust would be great. Sorry there's no magic wand on this one

Hi Eric,
Could I help ensure eventual pick up of the new page if its got new content or is this largely academic?
In terms of upstream providers do you have any suggestions (I am UK based)?
Cheers
