I love Addthis, not only does it have various products you can use, it has even better analytics.

The staff answers questions in a timely manner and the overall usefulness of the site is really excellent.

I've used them for about 3 years now, they've been great. The free products are customization and work just as good as the pro products which have even more functionality and styles.

I removed it from all of my sites.  It made the sites slower and very few people were using it.  Addthis' own stats prove that visitors rarely used it.  Tried it in lots of different configurations including the huge buttons.

I made graphs of inbound traffic from Facebook before and after using AddThis, including when we moved from one implementation to another.  Background traffic and the frequency of spikes in traffic seemed unchanged.

A few people did use AddThis and a few people may have seen AddThis and that triggered a share through other methods.  However, I am happier with AddThis removed.  There is no extra load required to deliver it, and the site is cleaner and presents my content without distraction.  That is more important to me than the traffic that AddThis produced.

Really, its not really the number of times that AddThis is engaged, it is the amount of return traffic that it produces.
