      Hello,

I have a question related to Geotargeting.
      Let's suppose I have a website: mysite.co.uk
As far as I understand Google will consider this site targeted for the UK and will appear on searches preferentially from the UK.

What happen now if I have a person located in Spain (with a Spanish IP) and searching in Google.co.uk. Will mysite.co.uk still appear in searches?

What are the factors that Google takes into account for Geotargeting?

      Thank you

Good question, there are a lot of factors that Google is taking into account but overall the answer is that it's very likely that your site will still show up in other countries if it's related to the query of the user.

Google is looking at the location of the person doing the query but also at it's language. So if you're deep in Spain but still doing English queries a lot it will easily learn that you're probably interested in English sites.

Hi Martijn, thank you for your answer. I am basically trying to decide if I should geo-target or language target a website.

From what I understand from your answer (correct if I am wrong), if I geo-target a website for the UK, it will appear in SERP optimally not only if the searcher IP belongs to the UK, but also if the search was done from google.co.uk outside the UK.

I need to get this right, since the market I am in is rather competitive
