301 issues

Hi, I have this site:  www.berenjifamilylaw.com.

We did a 301 from the old site: www.bestfamilylawattorney.com to the one above.

It's been several weeks now and Google has indexed the new site, but still pulls the old one on search terms like: Los Angeles divorce lawyer.

I'm curious, does anyone have experience with this?  How long does it take for Google to remove the old site and start serving the new one as a search result?  Any ideas or tips would be appreciated.

We had a similar issue when we went from an old domain to our new domain last year in July. It took Google about 2 months to start recognizing our new domain and all the pages on it. During the first couple of months, we saw search results for pages with our new and old domain names.

Here is what we did to mitigate the issue:

1. Double check that the change of address tool was used correctly and that Google was aware of our new domain.

2. Redirect the old domain to the new one.

3. Monitor Webmaster tools for 404 errors and redirect links accordingly as they came up.

After 2 months and at this point, we can’t find any traces of our old domain on search results.

Hey! Yeah it appears you are caught up in the Google waiting game.
