Google Map Disappeared
-
We had a client call and report that the information in the right-hand map of the SERp for their company name was presenting inaccurate information. I immediately reported the issue through Google and two days later it was fixed and the information was appearing correctly!
The following week, we created a Google My Business page for the same client to help boost their presence. Now, when typing in the same general query as we did for the previous-mentioned work, the map is not showing up at all! The map does appear when I type the company name with city and state, but not only the company name as before.
The listing has been verified with the Google postcard code, etc. Any insight or work arounds on this would be immensely appreciated!!

Hi Kevin!
So sorry to hear you're having this headache. I'm a bit confused about some elements of what you're describing. Didn't the client already have a Google+ Local page if they were appearing with a map in the right-hand Local Knowledge Panel? Could you accidentally have created a duplicate listing?

No. They did not have a Google+ listing previously. It was showing their company name, but in a different city (where they had done work previously) and with an incorrect phone number.

Hey Kevin,
I'm so, so sorry that this thread fell off my radar. I'm normally alerted to responses on threads, but somehow overlooked this one. My apologies! From what you've explained, I strongly suspect that your client may have a trust issue going on with Google. With the old office information out there on the web, you may be dealing with a multi-listing or duplicate listing scenario that could be shaking Google's faith in where the business is actually located. What likely needs to happen here is a complete audit of the client's history, citations and Google presence to figure out if there is mixed data out there sending confusing signals to Google. There's not going to be an easy answer to this, unfortunately - it's going to require a good Local SEO sitting down with the data for this particular business and going through it, troubleshooting. Best case scenario - there aren't any problems and it's just going to take time for the map to appear again, but worst case scenario - old records are adversely affecting the business' web presence in a variety of ways that need to be discovered and remedied, one by one.
Hope this helps a little! Sorry not to be able to be more specific.
