Content for the Home Page

Hi All,

I have a Videos website which contains Videos of all types + Family safe type...

The home page has sections and Videos listed. Now for SEO purpose i need to have content? this is what i read in most places. What is the kind of content i can place on a Videos website Home page?

I can write about a Movie or actor but that content on Home page would that be of any use?

We have a About us page etc to know who we are..

Any ideas please..

The best approach would be to treat your site like a blog so that each video has the opportunity to be found on it's own merit. you can setup catagories of course so that people can search and filter that way too. Without seeing the site the question is a little too simplistic I could be easily missing something here but I can't imagine a huge home page with hundreds of videos being very user friendly. UX is a crucial part of good SEO.

You're right, you need to have content to help get the site ranked. Site's that are primarily images or videos can be tough to rank, but there are still things that you can do to help.

As you mentioned, you could definitely include a description of each video with applicable details that will help both search engines and users to know what your site is all about. I hope that helps!

As I realised, the major issue is what type of text content you could have on your video based website. Definitely have a brief description of what your website actually is all about. In that text you should include your keywords or synonyms, but not in a spammy way. You could have H2 for the categories of your videos. You could have H3 for the name of the video (which am guessing is changing every other day). Try to optimize the page with as much content as possible but make sure you have a proper structure!
