what to do with posts that should be pages. One of our clients is a nation wide company with different local pages, targeting city+business. This week we found out that every page has a publishing date in the search results. So the pages are not pages but posts? the publishing dates are a some time ago and we think they hurt the rankings. We want to make those post/ pages, but does this bring any risk? example:

plumbing.com/chigaco to the same url? and just change code? the website is build in something called "send".

Pages and posts are all content, I never heard of google crawler/algo to make distinction. And I don't think the fact of having a date is a making a page a post. I believe a discussion about posts and pages nature would be like a discussion about the sex of angels.

Depending on the user search query google notoriously give a boost to fresh content in SERP, but that depends on the search query. If you search about soccer results on sunday night, google guess you are interested in the actual results of the day and gives a boost to fresh content. But that's it. As far as I know if you search for plumbing in Chicago it's unlikely fresh content get a boost.

I totally understand what you mean, especially with keywords like that and the nature of searchers looking for that.

Switching to a page doesnt really matter. Just move over the content and try to use the same permalinks. If the url structure right now of the post is impossible to replicate, you have some choices to do. 301 the url or worst case, canonical+nofollow.

Don't sweat it, it's going to be the same content. Just be sure to remove the post once you've moved it.

          Good luck!

Yes but what do you think about the old date which is visible in the results. Isnt content freshnes a factor?
