I have a website with a blog attached to it. It is a wordpress blog which we have not updated since 2013. However, it has a lot of pages going back to 2010.

I am moving my website to weebly so I can't move my blog over. I could recreate all the posts and make redirects to the new url. However, the posts are old and outdated so it doesn't really make sense, aside from seo.

I need advice. Would I take an seo hit if i start over with a blog and leave the old posts behind?

      Thanks!!!

This is more of a business question. I would ask a few questions:

1.) Do these pages rank, possibly bringing traffic to your website?

2.) Do you want to keep these blog posts?

Yes, you would have to create the posts and 301 redirect them. However, do you want to keep this content?

If it was me, I would want the content to be moved over for a few reasons: it may be helpful for the user, it may be interesting / funny to read, it may bring traffic, or several other reasons that could be thought of.

        I hope this helps.

        Cole

You might also want to see if any of your blog content has attracted any links.  If so, then it might be worth the hassle of rebuilding the content in your blog and doing 301s to the appropriate posts.

In addition, it might be worth checking to see if you can export the WP archives in a format that could be imported by Weebly.

A lot of the content is old and I'd like to just move what is still relevant. But if these old pages are indexed, and I suddenly have fewer pages, will that hurt my overall seo ranking of my site? I am not worried about the individual links so much as they don't generate a lot of traffic.
