      Hi,

We run a site which has slightly different versions targeted to different countries/ language groups and have just recently re-launched the site for two of the locations we currently target. Is there any way of specifically restricting SEOMoz reporting to a particular section of the site (perhaps based on URL structure) so that we can investigate the performance of the new sites without interference from the old sites?

      Thanks!

Hey, pretty sure I have seen this question asked before and the answer was no, not from the campaign manager settings at least. I am sure you could possibly do some technical wizadry and restrict certain links to certain crawlers - maybe someone here has some experience with that?

Not yet... But it's coming really soon. I believe by end of May, you'll be able to specify only a particular subdirectory or an entire root domain to have crawled. In the meantime, you can restrict our crawler - RogerMozBot - from accessing certain areas to sculpt our crawl.

Actually you can restrict part of your site to be crawled by the Linkscape bot (sorry I do not remember its "name") via Robots.txt . If you check well the crawl .csv, in fact, you can see the column "Linkscape crawler blocked via Robots.txt".

That way you can limit the crawl just to what you really want to monitor with the webapp.

Just remember that the robots.txt exclusion doesn't mean that crawlers can find a way to actually crawl a page (for instance if they come from a link). That is why you should also have to add a special meta name robots command in the head making explicit that the linkscape crawler should have not to crawl the page(s)

More infos about robots.txt and meta name robots here:
