Outbrain - How did it work for you?

After watching todays Whiteboard Friday post, I'm keen to find our more about how Outbrain worked for you. I'm interested to find out about what content you amplified? Duration of amplification? What was your total spend? Did it skyrocket social sharing? Did it boost backlinks? Has either your company or your clients company seen a dramatic increase in organic search performance, as a result of your content marketing amplification strategy via Outbrain?

Hi Gary,

We ran a small test with Outbrain, (Spent approx $4k) over the course of 2 months and generated traffic at an average CPC of .90. Their network is very high quality as the traffic came from sites like CNN International, Fox.

Thanks for sharing this. Are you able to further share exactly what it was you were advertising? Which geographical areas did you target? What was your conversion rate? Did you generate any back links with high authority?

We're wondering if this platform would be good for local businesses as well as national..?

Hi Gary,

We were advertising articles for non profit client based out of Canada. The CTR was low at .06% but i guess that would really depend on the content that you are promoting. The reporting interface is pretty basic , you will not get detailed stats on every single publisher that drove traffic to your site. Their network does include popular sites like CNN, Fox. The distribution might be a lot better in the US . We only targeted Canada with this campaign.

The key to success with this platform would really be the viral nature of the content being promoted. I'd suggest you give it a shot with a small budget to start and see how it does.
