I haven't gotten to take a good look yet but the site is showing a php error at the top of the page that you probably should know about.
-
Really? I don't see it! What page & What is the error?
-
This is the error I'm seeing on the homepage.
-
Thanks for the heads up! Had to check it on a different browser to see it!
-
One thing that immediately stood out to me is a lack of 301 redirect on the homepage. Right now there are two versions: www.precision-greens.com and precision-greens.com. This is causing a duplicate content issue that can be negatively effecting your rank in the SERPs. Select which one you prefer and have it 301 redirect to the other. Let me know if you have any other questions! ^Caitlin

Good Catch! - I completely missed this since Wordpress is suppose to do this itself, but there was an error in the .htaccess which prevented it!

Happy to help! ^Caitlin

This also needs to be redirected. http://precision-greens.com/index.php to http://precision-greens.com/
I'm not seeing any other major issues.
-
Im not sure if this will help but maybe move your homepage copy content a little higher on the page, theres a lot of pictures examples of your work then the content.

Thanks for your reply - We're actually working on a small redesign of the homepage as well, I will try to incorporate the text higher up to see if it helps at all!
-
Thanks for your help! I made that change as well - We'll see if any of these fix the issues!

Hi Corey,
Do you know anything about the history of the domain beyond your involvement with it? Any chance the domain might have had issues in the past that you're not aware of that could cause it to struggle with rankings?
I would not say that "moving text up" alone is necessary, but rather the manner in which you use text should done in a way that makes it look less like the text has been included for SEO purposes and more like that text is a natural part of the page. Unfortunately, grey-ish text on a white background in small font towards the bottom of the page gives off that impression.

I do know they were getting SEO through a company a long time ago that was using Black-Hat Tactics to gain them rank - but I haven't seen the black-hat website in a long time and don't even know if it exists. The text on the home page did drive them up significantly, but not to where I'd expect. I can definitely make the text darker and more readable.
Thanks!!!

If like you said an independent agency was doing the SEO work, could they have added a lot of dodgy links to both your homepage and deeper links. These may be holding you back to their irrelevent nature. Take a look on opensiteexplorer to see if that is the case.
-
The independent agency used a second site to build its rank - it was just a website with a bunch of big picture links to their website and a ton of textual links below.
The website since then has been redeveloped and we implemented all of the 301 redirects, etc. to ensure no page rank would be lost, so there isn't any bad links from their website. The links in OpenSiteExplorer also seem to be legit.
Still haven't figured out why they are ranking so poorly tho, it was put aside for now. All of the help has been greatly appreciated.
