Profit from domain authority, while shop hosted on other server
-
Hi,
What if you have a blog and you want to add a shop to your site (like http://blog.com/shop) to profit from the domain autority, but... the shop uses a specific technique that needs to be hosted on an other server?
I know a solution when I locate the shop at http://shop.blog.com by changing the DNS settings, but in this case the shop will not profit from the domain autoriry.
So,.. is there a technique (maybe also with DNS?) to host the shop on a different location, but for search engines and visitors it looks like it is on the same server?
I hope somebody knows a solution...

Fellow Dutchman, I would still prefer the subdirectory over the subdomain as it's closer to the root domain of the site. Also you will probably never notice any difference if you have a different IP or server for the subdirectory.

Hi Martijn,
I missed your answer but it is still an relevant question.
I agree it is better to have the subdirectory. But what if the webshop is not actually hosted on the same server as where the website is running.
When you have shop.domain.com you can virtually host the webshop on shop.domain.com with an DNS forward.
But it is not possible with domain.com/shop or is it? -
I think you're right, as far as I know it's not possible to have DNS settings for a sub folder.

Ok, too bad. But thanks for the reply
