Hi Rafael,
There are lots of opinions and theories about which way to go on this, but technically speaking it's unlikely you will lose rank in SERPs by switching to a www subdomain. Search engines and site visitors both see these as the same site. Technically they aren't, but it doesn't matter which one ranks higher in the short term because both will lead visitors to your site. Over time, this really won't be an issue if you take some steps to ensure your sitemaps, server settings, canonical URLs, and site URLs are all the same, with or without the www.
Keep in mind Google has addressed this issue and for the most part views the www subdomain and original domain as the same site. Just make sure all your internal links are the same as your preferred domain. Don't publish some URLs with the www and some without. It's also highly recommended to set up 301 server redirects to your preferred domain as well. And you mine as well select your preferred domain in your GWT site settings. You'll need to verify both domain and www subdomain.
Some considerations, though. If you're already running a fairly large and successful link campaign with thousands of URLs pointing to your original domain, maybe go the way of using your original domain over your subdomain. Google does dilute some link juice on redirect.
