How do you set up a goal using event tracking?

I have started tracking contact form submissions via event tracking and it works but for some reason when I try to set up a goal using event tracking and verify it, it shows 0% conversion rate based on past 7 days. Anyone have any idea as to why this is?

In the event conditions area the category is 'Contact Form' and the action is 'Submit'. Label and value have been left empty.

The goal tracking will only work with new events and not retrospectively.  If you trigger your event you will probably find it working.  The % figure when you verify the goal is just an indication of what would show up if already up and running.

...if that is not your answer I would double check you have copied the field values correctly.

Thanks Michael. The event has been triggered once since I set it up and this has appeared in the events reports but not in goals so it definitely does not work.

The fields values are correct I have checked it many times.

I've had the 'verify' give 0% before when creating Event based goals. Just put it live and see if it starts collecting (it is best to do this in a test profile first)
