Facebook Likes gone through the roof

Howdy,

We have seen our Facebook Likes increase by a staggering 20k in a week. At the beginning of last week we were sat at around 21k and it has been steadily increasing, but just 7 days later we now have 42k - Has their been some sort of algorithm change for this to happen, or should I be suspicious that something is not quite right?

James, Are you running FB ads? Do a quick audit and make sure they are not a bunch of junk likes.  I have seen this from competitors trying to lower Edgerank scores so your ads become unseen by others on FB.

We ran a couple of boosted post ads in november and october to promote a survey we were running but that's it - nothing recently and the only ads listed in our campaigns are the two I've mentioned above.
