My crawl results show nearly 10,000 errors on my magento store - with too many links and duplicate content being huge offenders both with nearly 10k worth of errors. My store is reporting 1843 links on home page and and kicks around 1500 - 1700 on the store pages.

are the two related? I'm thinking because with so many links obviously the code will be almost identical, save for the product description.

Am I correct in my line of logic? If so has anyone any ideas on how to cure this in a magento store please?

In case it's helpful the URL is rpamx.co.uk

Magento causes tons of errors to show up in Moz Analytics crawl diagnostics...tons.  I'm not really sure if there is an easy way to fix that in Magento or not, it's just kind of how Magento works.

Your site does have tons of links.  Just mousing over your navigation bar shows the sheer number of links on every single page.

Duplicate title tags are also a big issue because of the way that Magento category pages work.  These pages have the same title tag, but slightly different content:

        http://www.rpamx.co.uk/street/road-gear?color=131
        http://www.rpamx.co.uk/street/road-gear?color=127

Magento also has tons of duplicate content issues, also a result of how Magento works.  Because most of the page is the same (massive header, sidebar, footer) the pages get flagged as duplicate content, even though the middle of the page (body) might be different.

We ended up deciding to use Magento as purely an online store, and created a marketing wrapper outside Magento for content and structure.  It's unfortunate because of how expensive Magento is, but I personally think it will be a good decision in the long run.

Magento's CMS is just terrible by the way...

Thank you Bradley. I've managed to reduce my menu today to just 1 sub category per main category and it's brought the links down a lot - I'm going to see what other links I can reduce as well. I've actually got a blog (rpamx.co.uk/blog) that I will be posting regular content onto to try and drive more traffic.

The blog is wordpress, I hardly use the magento cms.

If you have further experience to share with magento I'm sure it will be of benefit to us all.

          thankyou so much for replying.
