Google Local Carousel in the UK?
-
Hi all,
I am looking at doing some Google Places work for a client and so have been looking at updated info on this having been a while since I added/updated an account.
I have read reports of a recent change which shows a Carousel for some local searches. However, it appears this is only showing in the USA as I haven't seen it at all on Google UK.
Does anyone know when this will be coming to the UK?
Thanks in advance,
Peter

Hi Peter,
I have done quite a bit of research since I saw your question and to be honest I don't think anyone knows for sure when the Carousel will be officially rolled out in the UK, however, what I did find is that if you do a search for 'theme parks uk' the Carousel is triggered!
Sorry I can't offer you a full answer!
Regards

It's been on some attraction based searches in the UK for quite a while. It's an odd collection of terms though. Those terms seem to change as well. Very similar terms are inconsistent [portsmouth attractions] triggers it for me, but [portsmouth visitor attractions] and [portsmouth days out] don't.
That has been consistent for several months.

Thanks Andy for your research on this - much appreciated. Yes, I see that too.
Seems a limited roll out at the moment, but no doubt it will increase.

Thanks too Mat for your feedback.
Yes, I can see it displayed for that search too. In fact testing further if you type "things to do in portsmouth" it shows for that as it does for "things to do in <location>" so that implementation seems consistent.</location>
I haven't found any carousels displayed for service type searches in a location, e.g. hotels bournemouth. In that case it still just shows the Google Places results, but I guess carousels for that may come.
Thanks again,
Peter
