      given two urls:

      http://somsite/page.htm?page=1

      http://somsite/page.htm?page=2

I get duplicate title error even though these pages have the same title on purpose.

is it possible to specify URL parameters that will indicate that this is the same page?

There are a Few options if I understand what you are trying to do.

You could call put "page x - rest of title" on any page that is not page 1? and leave page one titles as is?

You Could noindex all pages at are not page 1?

You could rel="canonical" all pages that are not page 1? But if main page content is different Google will likely ignore it.

In "URL Parameters" in Webmaster Tools you could select "Yes: Changes, reorders, or narrows page content", this will likely be a good option for you.

thanks Gary, but no, this is not what I'm talking about.

my issue is not with search engines, but rather with Moz Pro and their diagnostic crawl results which claim that I have thousands of duplicate titles when in fact I do not.

If two URLs generate the same title, it's a potential issue for search engines and near-duplicate content, which is generally why we warn about it. We don't currently have a way to ignore the warning (I think that's in the pipeline), but I'd regard it as worth addressing.

Not clear on what you mean be "this is the same page" - to a search engine, if the URL is different, it's a different page. if you're not controlling or canonicalizing it, then it's a duplicate, but those are still technically two "pages" to a crawler.

Are these paginated search results? Are you using rel=prev/next, blocking them in GWT, etc. (as Gary) mentioned?

these are paginated results, yes, and I do use rel next/prev meta tags.

Google Webmaster Tools allow you to specify URL params for pagination, and that is what I expected from the MOZ crawler.

the crawler errors will help me much more if they would indicate only the real duplicate and not all of the pagination and/or sort order variations of the URL.  now I see so many errors that it is almost impossible to find the ones that I can fix easily.

Ah, understood. Yeah, to be honest, we're not dealing with rel=prev/next well at all, and we need some kind of ignore feature. I know both are in the pipe, but I'm not sure on ETA. I'll nudge Product team. GWT, of course, we can't tap into, so we'd need some kind of separate flag in our system. Sorry about the frustration, as I realize it can make for a lot of warnings to sort through.
