      For ecommerce sites we all know how important it is to get your customers to write product reviews, and then post them on your product page.   Gives the page more content for seo and can help boost conversions when shoppers see others have bought it and like the product.

      For those of you that send out automated emails after customer receives product, what is the percentage of customers that actually convert to write review?

      We use Power Reviews.  And it seems our conversion rate on these emails requesting reviews keeps declining.  Maybe people don't want to leave reviews as much as they did a year or two ago?

      I'm embarrassed to say our rate last month was 6%.  A year ago we were averaging around 12-15%.

      We sell jewelry in the $200-$300 range is typical.

        Ron, in my option this has more to do with your timings, question in the email, product you are selling and more.

        In my opinion the best time to send email is few days after they receive the product because by them they must have tried it or may have used in some party or a gathering so they might have received other people reviews about it too! If your product will be solid you might receive a good feedback. Days and time of the day when they receive your email is also very important.

        Your question should be smart! You bought a product from us, can you please write a review about it didn’t sounds attractive. You need to spice it a bit to make it more attractive to the recipient.

        Try to change the time you are sending the email and content of your email to spice it up and see the difference. In my opinion there is not formula of it but testing and implementing what works for you is the only option you have!

          I think it also has to do with the loyalty of your customers. Do you have a lot of repeat customers? - those are more likely to review products, take surveys etc.. because they want to help the business, and want to feel like they're a part of it.

          Also - offering an incentive might help as well. for example 10% off your next purchase for reviewing your most recent purchase.

            Not too many repeat customers.  About 90-95% new customers.  And we do offer an incentive, a drawing for a $250 gift certificate.

            Maybe I'll change it up to offer an ipad.
