I am currently struggling with our site www.discountbannerprinting.co.uk to rank our PVC banners page
http://www.discountbannerprinting.co.uk/banners/vinyl-pvc-banners.html
On the UK search I have the following positions.
hfe-signs.co.uk/banners.php
signfirm.com/banners.html
bigvaluebanners.co.uk/PVC_Banners_High_Quality_Cheap_Outdoor_PVC_Mesh_Full_Colour_Banner/
bannerprintingandroid.co.uk/pvc-banners/
printedbannersandsigns.co.uk/
your-print.co.uk/pvc-banners-special.html
bannerbuzz.co.uk/pvc-banners
bannerbuzz.co.uk/
auraprint.co.uk/products/banners/
vinylprinting.co.uk/pvc_banners.html
banners.co.uk/CustomBanners-BlankBanners.htm
use - http://www.discountbannerprinting.co.uk/banners/vinyl-pvc-banners.htmlI can't decide if it is url structure of the site, to many links on the left hand nav diluting power, keywords, etc but it does not look right that we are so far down, at least 2 of the pages above us have no content at all and some have no links or social either.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
there are many reasons why these sites may be ranked above you, without doing an audit of your site and your competitors i cant advise exactly what this may be, but this white board friday by Rand may be of use to you. theres also this suplimentry article although this focuses on going beyond Moz metrics.
The ones with no links may be new and enjoying their 'holiday' period, you can check out things like that using the Who is directory among other tools to see when the domain went live.
I wouldnt expect its solely URL structure, although generally the further down the URL structure your keywords appear the less weight they carry, this is only a single and relativley small factor. having no social to may not be a deal breaker, its certainly an important up and comming factor, but could be compensated for by other things. Take a nosey at the latest pole on 2013 ranking factor weightings to see what the comunity see as important at the moment.
Sorry i have not given you a definative answer, but hopefully given you a few more things to consider and look into.
Thanks, Tom.

Tom's answer is pretty right on the mark. It could be many things.
For one, I think your link profile in terms of anchor text is pushing over optimization, especially for that one page. I suspect the link sources might be mainly press releases etc (known "link building" methods) but I didn't dig into that a whole ton. I'd really try to get your links a bit more branded for anchors etc. Check out this for link building ideas - and check out this for some possible trickiness because of your partial match domain.
On site, there may be some basic things to clean up. I ran Screaming Frog - see some long page titles, long descriptions (or missing descriptions) and in general the page titles could be a bit better I think.
For example;
"Cheap PVC Banners & Vinyl Banners Custom made Plastic material"
Could be a bit better for search engines and users. Maybe;
"Premium PVC & Vinyl Banners At Affordable Prices!"
It could be whatever you'd like but I am finding that "un-seo'ing" titles these days and making them more user friendly (while keeping your keyword in there) can help.
Also - are PVC and Vinyl the same thing? If they are different you may be throwing off the semantic relevance there.
