Content marketing: guest post around our article
-
Hello,
We made a piece of content that is useful to several different types of organizations and websites. It's also unique. We're promoting it by appealing to the humanitarian side of things. The sites I'm looking at right now have blog posts with content that indicates that our article would be useful.
How do we ask, by email or phone, site owners to write a guest post around our article? It seems like a lot to ask even though it's needed.
Resources I'm using:
Like the company on facebook. Follow them on twitter. Comment on recent blog posts. Share their good recent content on facebook. Retweet good recent tweets on twitter. Follow Rand's advice here: http://moz.com/blog/what-separates-a-good-outreach-email-from-a-great-one-whiteboard-friday

If I would be at your place I would have started interacting on twitter and email and would have tried to go a little personal and discuss stuff and ideas around the targeted piece of content... during the communication I would have directly or indirectly encouraged him to write a detailed post about him so that their users can get more knowledge about it!
My personal advice would be to take your engagement on the next level!

View this video by Robert Cialdini on the 6 universal areas of influence.

Then buy his book. He spoke at PubCon last year in Vegas, and just to hear him talk was worth the price of the conference. He has scientific studies that show the impact of these factors. Use them to craft that email, make that phone call etc. You will be amazed at how much these factors come into play.

So if I understand you correctly, Moosa, I might use twitter and email to connect with a specific person at the backlink providing company, and might talk to him about the topic that the article is about, not about the article at first. Then I would introduce our article to him and directly or indirectly ask him to write a detailed post around the article so that users can get more knowledge of it.
If I'm off anywhere, please let me know.
