Sticker Shock!!

While researching conversion rate optimization services, I checked out Conversion Rate Experts because Moz used them a while ago and the experience was profiled recently in a Moz top 10 (if I recall correctly).

I double checked the fees for service in case there was a typo.  Their site says they don't just service the big boys but small and mid-sized companies.

We're a mid-sized outfit (at least I thought) and this is way out of our budget.  Can small or mid-sized companies swing this? Their site says $250,000-1 million in online sales are eligible.

Anyone know what a reasonable monetary definition of today's small to mid-sized online companies?

That's REALLY small if you ask me.

What kind of service are you interested in?  Do you want to learn or do you want to hand this off to someone?

If you want to "learn" then get the Express Review service from SiteTuners.  They will study your pages, then get on the phone with you and tell you what they would do to kick up the conversions.  You get off of the phone with a "to do list" of things to change.  You make the changes and then get back on the phone to discuss.  You will learn a lot if you have not had this type of coaching before.   Or, you can use the Express Fix (after the Express Review) and they will kick the pages up a notch for you.

That's a lot of dough.  But if you have a lot of business and they can kick it up a lot then you can make money.  This is not for the $1 million/year biz if you ask me.

This is the way to go if you have a really big biz and want to hand the work off to someone else.  Go the SiteTuners route if you want to learn about how to improve your site.  I used SiteTuners and learned a lot.

Agreed. I've checked out Site Tuners and the others the Moz community recommended in an earlier thread.

Thank you for expanding on your experience with them - they're in the hunt for sure.

Still wish I knew of reasonable/acceptable monetary cut-lines for small, medium and large on-line websites.

Something else I would suggest.  Usertesting.com   You setup scenarios for users to walk through your site and can specify age, sex, location and income of the users.  You get back video with commentary on your site.  You can do 3 users for less than $200 and you get some really useful information that will really help bolster whatever input you get from the conversion companies.      Think of it as a way to put together a quick focus group and you often get results back in less than 1 hour so it is fast, too.
