Never used this tool personally but after spending two minute on this website I think they are checking the penalty by tracking your Analytics data and compare it with the dates of every small or big update came in!

...so if your Analytics data shows a dramatic dip in traffic on any of the certain date you might be hit by any of the penalty checker... (My Assumptions!)

If this is the case then the tool is not ad and this is one of the way how you find if your website is hit by any of the Google update but deciding this only on the basis of this can be wrong!

If you ask me, I will still recommend you to check this manually by looking in to your Google Analytics data and compare against the Moz’s Google Algorithm history document.

      Hope this helps!

Hi I have not heard of this tool but can tell you if you give me (or anyone that understands SEO) the same info this wants

If you give me 6 months of your Google Analytics or Omniture data & your a Businesses with over 5,000 search visits per month (search visits NOT anything they are talking about someone with much more then 5000 visits overall)  can tell you YES or NO this is a simple tool to sell there SEO service to people with low traffic or who have been penalized by Google.

        Requirements:

        • Businesses with >5,000 search visits per month.
        • At least 6 months of Google Analytics data. Omniture supported for clients only.
        • Two free minutes of your time (maybe less).

Then they say the thing I was about to.

By definition a penalty purposefully negatively impacts a specific website or group of websites because of something that the website is affirmatively doing or a way in which it is structured.

Not all negative impacts on a website’s rankings are penalties. Google may have updated a certain site structure or content type that they feel is not as desirable for search results. Thus, you website might be negatively impacted by a Google update but not technically “penalized.” Nevertheless, a drop in rankings feels like a penalty even if Google did not “reach out and say we’re going to penalize your website.” We often refer to most serious impacts on a website’s traffic and or search engine rankings as a Google penalty.

I bet it works very well it is easy with to do with what they want & Google will tell you if you have a penalty. If your using Google Web Master tools

If you have a link problem I like Virante's tool  http://www.removeem.com/

Because it works & Virante is recommend by Moz

        http://www.virante.org/blog/2013/06/19/removeem-google-penalty-recovery-success-for-one-full-year/

"The introduction of Penguin algorithmic penalties and associated unnatural linking manual penalties has radically changed the SEO world. Prior to Penguin, Virante provided link removal services, but this typically consisted of removing a few dozen links, at most. Our first 15,000+ link removal project made it clear that we needed tools to effectively provide this service; and so the idea of Remove’em was conceived, and we set to work developing the tool."

        Recommend by Moz

        http://www.virante.com

        Hope this help's

If you send you link I will look at it for you.

        All the best,

        Thomas

          Hi Moosa,

You said the same thing I was thinking If you give me 6 months of your Google Analytics or Omniture data & your a Businesses with over 5,000** search visits** per month (search visits NOT anything they are talking about someone with much more then 5000 visits overall)  can tell you YES or NO.

          Good answer man.

          All the best,

          Thomas

Are you asking if I think it is a good tool? I think it will work but having never used it or that company I can't say it is a good or bad tool.

I would use it only if it is 100% free. If you are penalized then use a company listed here to go forward

                http://moz.com/article/recommended

If you have been penalized & you have a Google webmaster tools account check it you will have an Email telling you have been penalized.

                Hope that was of help,

                Thomas

The thing is, you can do what Moosa suggested and compare your traffic with Moz’s Google Algorithm history document and see if there is a connection between your traffic drop and algorithm release.

To answer your question if this is a bad or good tool? I think it comes down to whether you want to share your Google Analytics account with Fruition. You have to give them access and abide by their terms and conditions. Are you okay with that?

Hi there, Moosa, Thomas, and Cyto have all made some valid points about this tool. Personally, I would not be comfortable sharing that much data with Fruition and agreeing to abide by their T&C in order to use a tool with a potentially misleading name  As both Thomas Fruition' site say (if you read closely), not every dip in traffic from Google is the result of a penalty, and being impacted negatively as the result of an update is not synonymous with being penalized.

So the tool is a "penalty checker," which can discover "penalties," the site says ... but if you read closely, what it is really checking for are what "feels" like penalties. Not exactly transparent, eh?

                      HI Christy,

Thank you for the kind words & great job summing everything up. I would say the transparency that company is Nonexistent.

To the person that was asking the question my summary would be the same as the others.

Using MozCast and your current Google analytics or any analytics that you can using over the last six months or even months you can simply compare as everyone has suggested.

This company is just using this tool as a boy to trick you into buying their services it's not really a very honest tool.

Christy brings up a good point they're not being very forthright at all.

I would agree that the best ideas to stay clear of them.

That's good reasons not to use the tool alone.

                      Please check out http://mozcast.com/

For a weather ranking of Google. I know it might sound a little strange, but you will understand as soon as you get on the site. It will tell you if there are good or bad times and you can look at your site's data and correlate that with the MosCast and then realize if there has been a large adjustment with Google.

                      Respectfully,

                      Thomas
