You may not have received any messages and still be penalised, the best way to find out for sure is to look if your rankings/traffic drops occurred at the same time as any Google updates occurred, if nothing else just to rule it out as a possibility.  There are some tools out there to overlay updates on top of your GA to help do this quickly (sorry i cant think of the names offhand but if you search around you should find them).

I have also done a competitive analysis for 1 of your 'cheap flights to....' pages and looks to me like you should be ranking better than you are, i.e. you should be on or very close to page 1 since you have many stronger page level metrics compared to your competitors etc.

As a result i would personally not do anything until identifying if rank/traffic drops correlates with any Google updates

Okay Shania,

The methods you should follow as:

1. Finalise the top powerful competitors as you said skyscanner, farecompare, cheapflights, and flightnetwork etc
2. Then use opensiteexplorer.org to export all competitors external links they have using MOZ advanced report
3. Refine all competitor's links one by one and make a strategy to start building links and posting content out on these prospects areas you found from competitors.
4. then measure the impact , surely something very positive response you will get in your ranking.

as per my above response i agree with you there is opportunity to compete for the long tail derivatives of 'cheap flights' since you have stronger page level metrics, this is supported by you saying that you did once rank well for these long tail keywords so i would be looking at what Google updates occurred at same time to identify (or just rule out the possibility) the cause of the drops

Hi Shania,

You really think this that they are very old, having most of links from paid. Follow my advice to do the whole process what i said. You can't say you don't have places to work, as I compared and saw the differences you and your competitors have, to look at here. You still need to gain your domain and page level authority than your competitors, it can only be possible to do gaining the link vote which you could get the way I told. I am pretty sure If you take all these four competitors in your competition box to extract all their external , there are still a lot of places which you can approach to build links, yup it takes time to be done all. But it must help you to get compete your competitors pretty well and cross them to bring you to the TOP as you want. that's it!

Yes Shania, That's what I am saying to you, but it needs to be filtered by type of links we see there to tag as some i usually tag are:

• already using or already taken
• approved
• article
• blogging, comment or links opportunity
• forum
• Q&A
• inactive
• leave
• paid
• social media link bait
• directory
• paid-directory
• reciprocal
• local citation sources or classified ads or places
• news and magazine
• social bookmarking
• non-english
• some how places to get links or mentions
• press release
• email or contact them for link request
• unrelevant place found link

then implement your strategy on the respected types of links.

I checked you with your competitors, you are strong. I can say you to wait little more days to come up the rank you wait, yes i can see it's really not a competitive keywords at all, but it might be well local competitive keywords associated with location bogota, cebu, what your competitors care to compete each other.

As you are saying above such are really not competitive keywords, in that regard I said that these phrases really have some local competition power what your local users use to search and your competitors caring it to be TOP, that's it.

Ooh, I checked it via Google.com , What I can suggest you here FIRST that you should increase domain authority, which is week than your competitors but in this phrases rank I can your page has enough page authority to come, don't forget Domain Authority also goes along with it might be the reason.

SECOND To re-write content of this page totally unique as you Google comes very first to unique and fresh content if something very well suitable to search query it finds.

THIRD to build some powerful high authority content niche theme based links
