These days, many sites that had, for a long time, relied on the power of exact match domain names to keep them high in the rankings are feeling the pinch of algorithm changes at Google and it may turn out that you're one of them.  Dr. Pete recently wrote a post on it here: http://moz.com/blog/early-look-at-googles-june-25-algo-update.

Ultimately, you're going to have to verify that the site hasn't been hit with a penalty--these graphs may help you to see if your site fits the stats profile of a penalty or Fruition's tool may help and if so, you'll have to work to clean the site up.  If you haven't been penalized, you're going to be working on creating content and social networking to build up the site's authority.
