The site in my opinion has very little quality content that would allow it to compete for a top 10 listing for such a competitive term as divorce lawyers you've pretty much picked the hardest term aside from something to do with search engine optimization

You domain, we estimate about 24 links with suspicious anchor text ignoring 430 safe links automatically. Some of these may need to be removed!

Your site is obviously not cared for as you are running WordPress version 3.4 It Is Way out of date. You also don't have more than 20 pages. You need content relevant strong content to entice people to link to you. Unfortunately I think it was an exact match domain penalty and they do not tell you anything. You need to do some serious work on your website if you actually want to get a chance at the top 10 for that keyword.

I am more than happy to help you out with it if you want to have someone look at it more. But I want to be upfront with you it's not going to be an easy fix.

        Respectfully,

        Thomas

you can use open Web Explorer,

          http://www.removeem.com/

take a look at this link and where you are linked on the page and what it has to do with anything related to do with that website.

to get a good match with Google +

          http://raventools.com/blog/ultimate-list-of-relauthor-resources/

          MUST USE

          http://yoast.com/wordpress/#wpseo

          http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/schema-creator/screenshots/

          I would use a tool like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/authorsure/

This one is coming in number 1 in the unique list of sites that have Google plus

          http://www.hanrattylawgroup.com/

underneath this line right here where it says link rel="publisher" href= you notice this guy is using a plug-in called WP social SEO booster

          http://www.dlisted.com/2012/12/21/happy-christmas-heres-some-divorce-papers

take a look at the guys that are actually ranking for this in Google.

They all have Google + pages authorship matters a lot

content matters a lot. There is a ton of content on each of these sites.

          http://www.rocheleaulaw.com/

          http://cordellcordell.com/

If I can make a suggestion is a managed WordPress host they will automatically update your software. Also making your site faster and more secure

          look at

WP engine, Zippy kid, web synthesis, pagely & presslabs

all of them will do a good job of taking care of your website. You really need to do a lot of work on it and I wish I could give you the magic bullet. However you have to look at your competition and what they're doing there creating a lot of valuable content for clients and for Google there one and the same now it's all end-user experience.

Let me know if you would like some help.

          Respectfully,

          Thomas

Thanks Thomas and you're absolutely right about needing more content to rank high and we're working on that. However, there are actually very few sites competing for this term with the kind of content you're referring to which is why we had this as well as many others within the top 15 spots for quite some time.

The content is an issue for top rankings sure, but it fails to explain the penalty.

Your exact match domain theory is interesting...... however:

1 It's not truly an exact match domain. - The domain name is not actually a searched term.

2 There are plenty of other domains in this law sector that also have keywords in the domain that are not being penalized such as our other site probateattorneyslasvegas.com which IS  an exact match domain.

3 The way I understand exact match domains is that any benefit that domains use to inherit from  having keywords in a domain, have simply been revoked. But being penalized for it, I'm not aware of and it surely doesn't seem to be the case in this sector.

I'm not ruling it out as a factor, but as the main reason for a 100+ drop, I personally don't think so.

There's most definitely something more going on, I'm just so surprised that it's not more obvious.

            Thanks for you input.

Check your analytics and see if you can match the dates your traffic dropped with any algorithm updates.

As far as an drops in traffic on certain dates, there's not enough traffic and data there to tell.

Being that most of the terms were on page 2, traffic has been low, spotty and inconsistent. This is one of the first things I looked at but was unable to spot any obvious dates.
