      Hi all,

We run an e-commerce store - I am just looking at the apache logs and I am finding a lot of spammy links that have been referrers to our pages - when I check the links, I cannot find our URL in an HREF on their page so I presume they may be using some country based cloaking?

These are the domains that are targeting specific pages on our site:
      http://3xru.ru/
      http://saldoconsult.ru/
      http://euro-casino.ru/casino/
      http://delaymoney.maroderi.ru/
      http://intimhot.ru/

How to deal with this? Our site is about cookware and they seem to be pointing these links to very specific products and categories.

Never seen anything like this before, help would be appreciated.

      Thanks,

      B

Generally, don't worry about a little spam. If you're not building bad links, you can expect some small percentage of bad links to find you anyway. I've seen a lot of people obsessing over bad links lately - that's almost never necessary unless it really gets out of hand, and the person building links knows what their doing.

Even most concentrated link spam attacks (with tens of thousands of links) fail. Google is pretty good at determining whether it's a spam attack or a ranking play.

Do check to make sure your site hasn't been compromised. Where are the links pointing? Is there UGC on the page where someone has inserted an iframe to use your site as a doorway? Do you see your site referring people out to sites you don't recognize? These are things to worry about. Some bad links will not be a big deal.

          Thank you Carson.

I will check those pages to see if they contain and UGC on the product review sections - and will follow your other recommendation also.
