One way to check historical Link Metrics is with a tool called majestic SEO backlink checker. Its not affiliated with SEOmoz but it has a historical index. Here is the link to the tool

Go to Campaign > Click on "Link Analysis" > Hover your cursor to the left of "Domain Authority" and click the little down arrow. You will see a small popup "History". Wallah!
