Is it worth getting a Premium Listing with Nuestar Localeze?

With basic listings you can't link to your website... does the directory get used much in the US?

But trying to answer your question directly, what I'd say is if your website is a kind of a business you'd typically find in a yellow page listing, you could consider this. I am not saying you should or should not. I am saying, you could.

Your listing along with phone numbers, website URL or link and citations also helps your site rank in local search. So if you are in a competitive industry, you see your potential clients using this directory and that there's a chance of actual click-thru's coming in, I'd totally consider it. Also depends on how much it costs, what your budget is and is there ROI ?

The reason I ask is because it's one of the local directories on http://www.getlisted.org - premium listings are $297 / year For me it's a case of: a) does the directory get used / is it popular in the USA b) is it worth the annual fee of $297 I can see SEOmoz has a listing with no website: http://webapp.localeze.com/directory/profile.aspx?pid=703193828

Good question Woj. We are evaluating which Business Directories we want to pay for enhanced listings at, or not. This one is definitely on our list. While $297/year seems pricey, a lot of the others charge $30-$50 a month for enhanced listings, so the cost for Neustar Localeze is actually quite reasonable.

We haven't made any decisions yet either. I too would be interested to hear from others on whether or not they found the enhanced listing there to be beneficial.

I will say this, I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not, but after we completed our business listings (using getlisted.org's checklist) our PageRank moved from 3 to 4. We did pick up a few .edu links in January and February of this year, so it might have just been the collective effect of all these things happening at once.

That's great.. how did you pick up the .edu's ?

Getting the .edu's really wasn't that hard. First, I identified .edu links going to a competitor. It turns out, they were from resource lists by various professors. Knowing most university professor like to maintain the appearance of impartiality, I simply contacted the professor managing the page and wrote something like "Hi, I found your page when I was researching widgets and noticed you had a recommendation list online for your students. I thought my company would be a great addition to your list because we specialize in this specific kind of market and offer discounts to students."

Two of them responded and added us immediately.  One was Columbia Univeristy,  NYC...Cool, huh?

This is a pretty late response to this question, but I wanted to provide an answer to people who may happen upon this search.

Neustar Localeze is one of the four primary databases: the others are Acxiom, Factual, and Infogroup. Neustar Localeze is more expensive than, say, Moz Local, because you're getting something more meaningful: you're updating one of the central databases that thousands of other directories rely on to populate their listings. I would suggest that it's worth it.
