Try putting your url into this site, it can help detect whether you have been hacked:

        http://sucuri.net/

That should help determine whether you've been hacked, and what might be causing the problem.

The issue could also be that there is some plugin that you have installed that is causing the problem. Try disabling all your plugins and see if that fixes your problem. Then re-enable them one-by-one to determine which one is the culprit.

You need to keep your wordpress and plugins up to date as they can get in through vulnerabilities.

It could also be a server attack has gained access to the database or htacess check these (especially the database for unknown users) for changes and odd things.

It's happened a couple of times to me and I'm quite handy at these types of things but if your not very techie you might need some proper help as if you leave it open for them to come back in you'll be back to square one.

Once you are clean you need to set up some type of scheduled backup onsite and offsite so that you can easily roll back to previous states if required.

If you need professional help my systems admin also freelances and I can pass on his details.

That looks like a great site...I've bookmarked it.
