I am looking to create some more trust on my website by subscribing to BBB.  I have heard that my site is penalized and loses "link juice" if I place the BBB logo link in my page footer on every page of my website.  Does anyone know how much I am penalized? Should I only put it on my conversion pages and maybe my main 10 sub pages?

My main goal is to assist in getting conversions but I don't want to do it at the expense of getting a penalty.

      Any help is greatly appreciated.

      Thank you,

      Boo

Don't sweat, you won't be penalised for linking out to the BBB, even if it's site-wide in your footer.

You might be getting confused with possible penalties for having low quality links from other sites link to yours, especially from site-wide and/or footer links.

I strongly agree with David's response. You will never be penalized to have a BBB logo linking out to their site. Infact, its good for your website's trust factor among your visitors. However, you can nofollow your BBB logo link though this will have little to no effect. So the conclusion is there is absolutely nothing to worry about this issue and all that you have to worry about are the link building techniques or methods that you employ to grow your website's link popularity. Make sure you earn links by good content that automatically earns links from good neighborhood rather than being an active and deliberate link builder.

          Best regards,

          Devanur Rafi.
