I have a piece of content (that is similar) that legitimately shows up on two different sites.  I would like both to link, but it seems as if they are "flip flopping" in ranking.  Sometimes one shows up, sometimes another.  What's the best way to differentiate a piece of content like this?  Does it mean rewriting one entirely?

      http://www.simplifiedbuilding.com/solutions/ada-handrail/

      http://simplifiedsafety.com/solutions/ada-handrail/

I want to the Simplified Building one to be found first if I had a preference.

I will be interested to hear what others say on this, but my own two cents are that I would re-write the content more significantly than you have.  The content looks very valuable, but my instinct is that ultimately only one will rank unless they are more different than they are right now.  The easiest way to do this in my opinion is to think of a different angle for one of the them -- for instance, one could be about the the process of installing ADA compliant handrails, and the other could be about the reasons for ADA rules, the benefits, and maybe some stories about what has happened at some places that lacked compliant handrails.  Hope this is helpful.

I agree with williammarlow. Matt Cutts has been drilling this home for a long time. That you need to have original content on your pages. Anything that is similar or even close, the serps will rank one over the other. Doing a rewrite of one of them is the best approach. Also, Google likes to see fresh content on a regular basis. So I would encourage to post frequently.

Ok, I rewrote the content completely on the www.simplifiedbuilding.com site, so I guess we'll see where this goes.

            Thanks for the input.
