Google's algorithms are very clever, they can detect synonyms and similar phrases. So you would be safe to target a phrase such as "Wedding photography in London" and they would associate it with "Photographer".

Remember to think about what your potential visitors would like to see because your title tag will be the first phrase they see in Google's SERP. You never know, maybe people would react better to "The Best Wedding Photographer in London"

Thanks for your response. What about mentioning 'Essex'? With only 70 characters to use its finding the optimum title.

Location based keywords will be used for Local Results in the SERP. Well ideally that's the goal of it. So if your Google Places listing is optimized, then it will locate your Place listing within the area.

My geography isn't that good but if Essex is basically right next to London then you could use "Wedding photographer in Essex, London". Hopefully Google will tell that you are talking about a single place. Either way, it doesn't look like there is too much competition for that location based key phrase.

Ideally, titles should not be written for search engines at all, and search engines, especially Google, is really intelligent in taking in semantic cues, meaning that they will see Photography and Photographer as the same keyword; I'd use the adwords keyword tool and see if the estimated traffic is the same just to make sure

More importantly than focusing your title to your keywords, it really needs to be related to the content on the page; this is what a title is. This is where the finesse comes in of planning relevant content to your keywords. Use tools like ubersuggest, and even search Google without pressing enter to find some common search terms related to wedding photography & London/Essex, and create content based on what people search for.

For your home page, I would probably create a relevant title for wedding photography + location, but then drill down and create specific pages for both London and Essex, being location specific for each one; possible mentioning landmarks or points of interest. I'm not that familiar with London, unfortunately so I can't offer you location specific advice.

              Hope this helps

              Zach

Since it sounds like the site just recently started 'doing SEO' I'm guessing it doesn't have a very established backlink profile. I'd also assume that 'Wedding Photography London' would be a pretty competitive term with some established companies sitting on the first page.

Look into finding a more long-tail KW to focus on. What makes your Company special?

                • Photojournalistic Wedding Photography - London, Essex
                • Artistic Wedding Photography - London, Essex
                • Black & White London Wedding Photography
                • Traditional Wedding Photography - London, Essex
                • Natural Light Wedding Photography - London, Essex

All of these title tags above help create a stronger, more unique brand. It is better to rank top 3 for a less competitive term than it is to rank 20+ for a competitive one. As your domain becomes more powerful, you can update your title tag to go after the more competitive term.
