Is it ok to repeat part of a meta-description across multiple pages?
-
For example, what if I was to conclude each meta-description tag with the line... "Free shipping for orders over $90."
The rest of the meta-description tag on every page is unique, but the last sentence would be the same or at least similar.
Thoughts?

No SE will recognize the meta description as duplicate content, as long as it's only a part of the meta description that is not unique from page to page. We are using the same aproach, adding the same line in the end of our meta description on most of our pages. You see this a lot with "free shipping", "web-discount" etc.

This is fine and a common practice across a large number of ecommerce sites.
If that is your unique value proposition compared to your competitors, by all means use it across all relevant product pages/categories/buying guides/homepage etc.

Dear Brendan,
this should not make for any problems. We also use it on different websites for theming. Our theme is camping so we use the main keyword/theme word on most pages description which in turn should not be any problem.
To be sure you could always interchange the position of the standard text (if this is not done automatically using a CMS).
So no problem at all.
