Webspam report worth doing?

I have had mixed results one of our competitors had hidden text on his site, and we reported him, and the next day they were gone. Another time we had a competitor buying links, they even sent us an email asking to buy a link and we reported them, and nothing happened they are still there.

I believe it depends on who reads the report.

Did you ever try reporting the "paid link offer" again after a period of time ie 6 months?

I tried reporting a competitor for paid links, and even included the email I received which contained a partial list of the sites where the paid links were being placed.

Tried to report it twice, over the summer and nothing has happened so far.
