Hey Brian, it depends on your needs, your business goals, the amount of time you have, along with your existing relationships with people and entities who might be good prospects for linking to you.

My favorite new resource from MozCon is Paddy Moogan's 35 ways to get links in 35 minutes. Check it out and see what you think. In the presentation he mentions a number of tools and tactics for getting links that matter.

Best way to build good quality links to make good quality content and then seed the content to the wider audience.

If you want other metohods here are 5:

            • Industry specific directories

            • Guest blog posts on related websites

            • Social Media posts on higher quality sites

            • Creating a high quality forum profile, been a member on the site then posting about your site.

            • making an info graphic for your industry and then going and posting it on social sites.

A great way to build links to your site is to first seek to understand what content your audience wants (especially influencers and linkerati) and develop that content. Then look for ways to promote your content to people who have sites and tend to link to awesome content. People are more likely to link to content that is tremendously valuable or relevant. Developing relationships with key influencers in your niche can help a lot. Look for ways in which you can help these influencers before you ask for a link. Remember it is a marathon, not a sprint!
