I need to have QR codes printed on some print collateral.

Is it just me, or is there a million ways and sites that allow you to make them?

Can someone recommend an organization to use?

And should I opt for dynamic or static? My idea was to link it to a mobile friendly webpage that loads in dynamic rate information, and info that may change time to time. So if it's a web page that I control does it matter if its static or dynamic?

Also Should I opt for a paid service? Seems I can get these squares for free all day long. What are the pros and cons for paid vs free?

      Thanks homies,

      Cy

You can get QR code generators for free.    A good free one is

        http://goqr.me/

On the QR code, it depends on how you are going to use it to then decide about the end page.  What and where are you promoting with the QR code?

Just like with any banner or click ad, you would want to setup separate QR codes (ads) so that you can track where the traffic is coming from etc.

If you use Google Analytics, you can use the URL builder

        http://support.google.com/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55578

to add parameters to the end of a standard URL.  You could then setup QR codes that all send to the same page on your site, but then have parameters that change and then you can see the referral data in Google Analytics.

Lets say you have a product page.  You could setup a QR code in your email sig that points to the product page and also a QR code that is in a magazine that points to the product page.  You have each QR code setup with the GA tracking code at the end of the URL.

GA will then record referrals to that same page for email QR code referrals vs magazine QR codes.

Segmentation is a good thing. Think ahead on how you want to look at things and then use the QR codes accordingly.

Thanks!  🙂  It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.
